One search on the psychology of color will make your head spin. When branding, thinking about color in terms of ‘fit’ is the right approach.
CASE STUDY: THE SERVERY AT SAC STATE
SIGNAGE THAT SERVES
FUEL was asked to name and design the signage for the newly renovated Servery dining commons at CSU Sacramento. As a key element in their efforts to attract students, it was important to set the right mood.
Good Brands Evolve Naturally
We were asked to come up with a name for “the Servery, the dining commons at Sacramento State”. When we asked “What’s wrong with the Servery?”, the group looked at us and said “well, nothing”… We even explained that it jived well with the hornet mascot (not quite a hive, but it still evoked a communal idea of living).
It’s common for architectural projects, that require the architect and client to become intimate with the project, to evolve a nickname that is perfect for the space. Trust intuition.
On the Menu…Collaboration
Working with Mogavero Architects and the client to realize their vision and flow for the space, FUEL created the station names and designed a sign system that gave a high-end retail feel to the space, pulling visitors to the entrance, and through the environment.
